Rodgers not surprised by Reds form
Brendan Rodgers claims that Liverpool are ahead of schedule in their quest for Champions League football, though he is not surprised at how well his team are playing, the Mirror understands.
The Reds four goals at the weekend mean that they are now they highest scoring team in the English top flight, and their points tally of fifty-six is just four short of league leaders Chelsea.
They are six points clear of fifth place Tottenham Hotspur, and are odds on to finish in the top four, which would see the Merseyside club qualify for Europe’s top competition for the first time in five years.
Meanwhile, Rodgers has praised former Reds midfielder Jonjo Shelvey for the respect he showed after scoring for Swansea City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, according to the Daily Star.
The 21 year old, who moved to South Wales after the years with Liverpool in the summer, fired in a superb strike to get his new side back in the game and was duly applauded by sections of the home fans.
Shelvey, who also netted at both ends when the sides met at the Liberty Stadium back in November, made forty-seven league appearances for Liverpool, scoring twice.
