Rodgers to be backed with funds in the summer
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has insisted that Brendan Rodgers will be given the funds to strengthen his squad in the summer, the Daily Star understands.
The Merseyside club failed to get any deals over the line in January, but Ayre has insisted that the Reds boss will be supported financially when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.
Rodgers’ side currently sit second in the Premier League, four points behind Chelsea with ten games remaining, and all at the club are keen to continue with the momentum gained from a superb season so far.
Meanwhile, Rodgers has backed Raheem Sterling to make Roy Hodgson’s squad for this summer’s World Cup finals, according to Sky Sports.
The winger is in line to win just his second full international cap in tomorrow evening’s friendly against Denmark at Wembley after a string of stunning performances for his club.
In his twenty-eight appearances in all competitions so far this season, the 19 year old has scored seven goals, including the second in Saturday afternoon’s 3-0 win over Southampton at St Mary’s.
Sterling’s teammate Daniel Agger has added to the praise, with the Denmark defender labelling him a ‘great, great, talent’.
