Salah is the signing of the summer
Jamie Carragher feels Mohamed Salah has been the signing of the 2017 summer transfer window following an impressive start to his Liverpool career. The Egypt international joined the Reds from AS Roma for a club-record fee in June, and he has since contributed 10 goals in just 16 appearances for the Merseyside club.
He wrote, “Salah scored his 10th of the current campaign in midweek. When I saw Salah score his first for the club at Watford on the opening day, I felt this was a player who would score 15 this season. I underestimated. He is on schedule to get 25, which would be better than any other player in their debut season according to the latest lfc match stats – which is quite incredible. The Egyptian is more than a traditional winger. He is a wide striker with the ability to get into goalscoring positions every time he plays. Paying over £35 million seemed risky, but as was the case with Mané, Salah already looks to be worth more than he cost.”
Despite this, the fans should be a little disappointed with the forward’s finishing, having often dribbled his way past opposition defenders only to shoot straight at the goalkeeper. Liverpool are currently 12 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City in fourth spot, and they face a must-win game at Arsenal on Friday evening if they are to maintain their slim chances of competing for the title.
