Throughout the summer there were huge rumours linking the former Juventus ace with a switch to Anfield, yet he claims that he turned down the opportunity due to the memories of the Heysel disaster. Such revelations certainly appear bizarre, after the club seemed to dismiss reports that an approach had been made at the time.

The next report comes from the London Evening Standard and involves Luis Suarez. Brendan Rodgers hasn’t been able to hide his disgust at how various pundits have jumped on the player’s back through recent days, yet the Uruguayan Football Association appear to have gone that one step further by making a complaint to FIFA. The outlet has suggested that they have written to the governing body due to their dismay on derogatory comments made by vice-resident of the organisation, Jim Boyce.

The final piece of news surrounds some transfer gossip, with talkSport suggesting that Brendan Rodgers is casting his eye on attacking options. One of these options is Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz, with the source indicating that a fee of £13m could be agreed.
