Ayre: Reds don’t want to cash in on Suarez

Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre has insisted that the club are not interested in cashing in on striker Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan international has turned head across Europe with his performances this season, which have seen him hit 22 goals in 29 Premier League games, the best return in the division.

Juventus are the latest club said to be interested in the 26 year old, with Bayern Munich also likely to make an approach in the summer.

However, Ayre is confident that Suarez will honour his contract at Anfield, which was extended last summer and has suggested that the striker’s comments in a recent interview in his native language could have been “lost in translation”.

In the interview, the Reds top scorer seemed to claim he would be willing to speak with other clubs, should they make an approach, though he has always maintained that he is very happy with life at Anfield.

Elsewhere, Daniel Sturridge is a doubt for England’s World Cup Qualifier in San Marino tomorrow evening.

The forward, who missed last month’s friendly with Brazil due to injury, will face a late fitness test on a thigh injury he picked up in training earlier in the week.
