Ince still on Rodgers’ radar

The Mirror have reported that Brendan Rodgers is still keen to strike a deal for Blackpool’s Tom Ince, despite the player apparently believing the chance of transfer has gone.

Liverpool made efforts to resign their former youth player during the January transfer window, but were wary of splashing out £6 million on a player running into to the last year of his contract.

Ince, who was named the Championship’s Young Player of the Year at Sunday’s Football League Awards, is currently being managed by his father, former Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince who was recently named as Blackpool boss.

Meanwhile former Reds striker Ian Rush has urged the club to make a move for Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.

The Wales captain, who worked with Brendan Rodgers for two years at the Liberty Stadium, has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent months as the club look to rebuild their defence for next season.

Jamie Carragher will retire at the end of the season, while Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates are also likely to be leaving the club.

Elsewhere, Steven Gerrard has admitted that Enlgand ‘stopped playing’ in their 1-1 draw against Montenegro last night.

England had led for seventy minutes of the match, but a poor second half performance allowed the hosts to equalise.
