Carroll deal on verge of collapse?
Andy Carroll’s proposed move to West Ham United is hinging on the England international’s wage demands.
The Metro understand that the 24 year old is asking for £100,000 per week to complete the move – £20,000 more than what he was reportedly receiving during his loan spell last season.
The Hammers had a bid in the region of £15millon accepted for the former Newcastle United forward almost three weeks ago, and have been waiting on the players decision ever since.
It is thought he had hoped on Newcastle tabling a bid, though no offer has been forthcoming.
West Ham this week saw a £14.5million bid for Alvaro Negredo rejected by Sevilla, showing that they are willing to consider other options should Carroll refuse their advances.
Regardless of where he begins next season, the striker is set to miss the start of the new campaign with an ankle injury.
Meanwhile, the Reds are confident they can stave off interest from Monaco for defender Daniel Agger.
The mega rich French side have been linked with a plethora of players since securing promotion back to Ligue 1, with Chelsea captain John Terry also linked today.
However, Liverpool are keen to keep hold of Agger, who missed just three league games last season.
