Reds set to reject second Arsenal bid for Suarez
Liverpool are set to reject any improved bid from Arsenal for Luis Suarez, after the Metro reported that the Gunners board have given Arsene Wenger the green light to sign the striker.
The North London club appear to be willing to pay £40m for the Uruguay international, though that would still fall short of Brendan Rodgers valuation.
The Reds boss said that Suarez is in the same ‘bracket of talent’ as Edinson Cavani, who recently moved to Paris Saint Germain for £55m, suggesting that he would only consider a bid of that magnitude for his star player, the Daily Star understands.
Meanwhile, Napoli are reportedly considering a move for goalkeeper Pepe Reina, according to the Express.
The Serie A side are now managed by Rafael Benitez, who took the Spain goalkeeper to Anfield in 2005.
There has been a degree of uncertainty over Reina’s future since the arrival of Simon Mignolet from Sunderland, though the 30 year old has always maintained that he is happy at the club.
Elsewhere, Sheffield United have signed Conor Coady on a six-month loan, the Express understands.
The 20 year old defender made his Premier League debut in the 3-1 win at Fulham in the penultimate game of last season, and recently captained England at the Under 20 World Cup in Turkey.
