Liverpool reject ‘cheeky’ Suarez offer from Arsenal
Liverpool have turned down Arsenal’s improved bid of £40m plus a pound for want-away striker Luis Suarez, the Mail Online understands.
The audacious bid is enough to trigger a reported clause in the Uruguayan’s contract which demands that the Reds tell Suarez of Arsenal’s interest in him.
Though the club are not obliged to sell the 26 year old, it will arguably put heap more pressure on those trying to convince him to stay at Anfield.
Suarez, who was the Reds top scorer last season, has repeatedly stated in public his desire to switch clubs following two and a half controversy filled years on Merseyside.
So far, Arsenal are the only club to have made an official approach for the former Ajax man, though Real Madrid are said to be lying in wait.
The Spanish giants are on the verge of generating funds from the sale of Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain.
Suarez has made no secret that the Bernabeu would be his preferred destination next season, and a bid from the La Liga side expected in due course.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Valencia striker Roberto Soldado, Talk Sport understands.
