Gerrard urges Reds to not sell to rivals
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has urged the club to not sell Luis Suarez to Arsenal, the Metro understands.
The Gunners have had two bids for the Uruguay international rejected by the Reds, the latest of which involving a fee of £40,000,001 and Gerrard believes that his clubs season hinges on whether or not Suarez will remain with the club.
The England skipper believes that Suarez is only behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the list of the players in world football, and has said he ‘would understand’ if he wanted to move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
However, he believes that, from the clubs point of view, it would make no sense to sell their key player t to one of their rivals for a top four spot.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are reportedly lining up a move for Reds defender Daniel Agger, according to the Daily Star.
The Catalan club are keen to resolve their defensive issues ahead of the new season, and have identified Agger as one of their top targets, while they have also been linked with a move for Chelsea’s David Luiz.
The Danish international came close to moving to the Nou Camp last summer, though a change of heart from then manager Tito Vilanova scuppered the deal.
