Rodgers criticizes Arsenal’s quest for Suarez
Brendan Rodgers has taken a swipe at Arsenal over their pursuit of Luis Suarez, the Mirror has reported.
Last month, the Gunners lodged a bid of £40,000,001 for the Uruguay striker, believing that such a bid would trigger a release clause for the 26 year old striker who has repeatedly expressed a desire to move on this summer.
The Liverpool manager hinted that the club showed a class with the cheeky bid, which was rejected out of hand by the club.
However, the Mirror have also claimed that Suarez will this week attempt to engineer a move to the Emirates by handing in a transfer request.
The 26 year old, and his advisers, will reportedly increase the pressure on the Reds as they try to push through his protracted move to the Emirates.
They are said to be considering legal action, as well as possibility of taking the matter to the Premier League arbitration panel, as the saga of the summer rumbles on.
Nevertheless, Suarez was given a heroes reception as he came on as a second half substitute in Steven Gerrard’s testimonial victory over Olympiakos at Anfield on Saturday.
Goals from Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson wrapped up the win for the Reds, who fielder a side which included club legends Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler.
