Reds secure best start in five years with victory over Villa

Liverpool edged past Aston Villa to make it back to back victories in the Premier League, and record their best start to a season in five years.

As against Stoke City last week, Daniel Sturridge was the match winner – his twenty-first minute finish enough to secure to points for Brendan Rodgers though credit must once again go to goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, who kept Villa at bay.

The result stretches the Reds unbeaten league run to ten games ahead of their game against fierce rivals Manchester United, which takes place at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, though the club will first hope to progress in the League Cup by beating League One side Notts County tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers is interested in bringing in Chelsea winger Victor Moses on loan, according to the Mail Online.

The 22 year old, who is in the Blues match-day squad for this evening’s match against Manchester United, is reported to have been told he can leave Stamford Bridge on loan.

Moses, who has not yet made an appearance under Jose Mourinho, is set to fall further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrival of Brazil international Willian, a previous target of Liverpool.
