Reina ‘won’t return’ to Liverpool
Pepe Reina will not return to Liverpool once his loan spell with Napoli is over, the Daily Star understands.
The Spain international, who was allowed to move to the Serie A side for the season after the Reds brought in Simon Mignolet from Sunderland, has reportedly agreed a deal to join Barcelona next summer.
Arsenal are planning another major transfer swoop in January, with the club expected to revive their interest in Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, according to the Metro.
The club smashed their transfer record this week to bring in Germany international Mezut Ozil for £42.5m, and are now preparing another big money move when the window reopens in January.
The Gunners failed with two bids for Suarez this summer, though reports suggest that they will table a third bid for the striker who is set to return to first team action with the Reds later this month once he completes the ten-match suspension he received for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in the 2-2 draw at Anfield back in April.
Meanwhile Daniel Sturridge is now doubtful for Liverpool’s match against Swansea a week on Monday, with BT Sport reporting that the strikers groin injury is more serious than first thought.
