Moses would consider Reds switch
There has been plenty of speculation over the last few days linking Victor Moses with a move to Chelsea. However, it now appears as though the Reds have got themselves into the picture, with Moses claiming that he would be open to a transfer to Anfield.
It would be fair to say that Chelsea’s offer for Moses a couple of weeks ago came completely out of the blue and sent Wigan chairman Dave Whelan on another rant to the press. Whelan claimed that the Blues were “taking the mickey” with their offer, believed to be around £3m, and said that he would be doing everything in his power to prevent the 21-year-old from leaving. It is understood that Whelan has gone as far as offering Moses a new contract that will double his current wage, in a bid to fend off interest from some of the bigger clubs in the Premier League.
However, there is an understanding that Moses is very much open to the idea of leaving the DW Stadium – and that Anfield could be a possible destination. He said, “I don’t know for now, but there’s a link for me to Liverpool, Chelsea and some other clubs in England. If the offer is cool, why not, I will move.”
It remains to be seen whether or not there is any truth in the speculation, with Brendan Rodgers yet to comment on any transfer rumours that have been put towards him. There are certainly several stumbling blocks involved in the transfer, most notably Chelsea’s interest and the fact that Wigan supposedly want around £8m for the forward. The Latics’ huge asking price is mainly due to the sell-on fee that former club Crystal Palace would be entitled to, although if Moses does not commit to a new contract there could be a window for negotiation as just twelve months remaining on his current deal.
