Liverpool up to second as they ease past Fulham
Liverpool climbed to second place in the Premier League with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Fulham at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
An own goal from Fernando Amorebieta put the hosts in front on twenty-three minutes before Martin Skrtel doubled their advantage with a thumping header just three minutes later.
Luis Suarez continued his fine form with a goal either side of half time to wrap up the points for Brendan Rodgers’ men who, with Chelsea dropping two points against West Bromwich Albion, climb a place in the division and close the gap on leaders Arsenal to just two points.
Suarez is now joint with strike partner Daniel Sturridge and Manchester United’s Sergio Aguero on eight goals in the chase for the Premier League Golden Boot.
The Gunners lost for the first time in the league since the opening day of the season, falling to a 1-0 defeat to champions Manchester United at Old Trafford yesterday afternoon.
The Reds will now turn their attention to the Merseyside derby, which takes place a week on Saturday at Goodison Park.
Three points against their city rivals will see them reclaim top spot, with Arsenal hosting third place Southampton later in the day.
