Reds set to miss out an Salah
Liverpool look to have missed out on signing Egypt international Mohammed Salah, after Chelsea stole in at the last minute to secure his services, the Mail Online understands.
Their sources in Switzerland say that the Blues joined the race to sign the winger, who has scored twice against them this season in the Champions League, after sanctioning Juan Mata’s proposed move to Manchester United.
Reports yesterday suggested that Salah had finalised a tenancy agreement on Merseyside as Liverpool themselves closed in on a move, but it appears that manager Brendan Rodgers will now have to look elsewhere if he is to add to his squad this month.
Meanwhile, the club have been alerted to news that Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld has been offered to Napoli, according to the Express.
The Belgium international moved to the Spanish capital from Ajax in the summer, though he has played in just ten of their thirty games so far this season, and has recently expressed his dissatisfaction at the situation.
Liverpool were one of a number of Premier League clubs linked with the 24 year old ahead of his move to La Liga, and Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly also monitoring the situation.
