Agger admits considering retirement
Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has revealed that he considered retiring after suffering a host of injury setbacks in recent years.
The Danish international, who has made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season, told a newspaper in his home country:
“I do not have a long time left. I have considered ending my career sometimes”.
The 28 year old has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks, though his contract runs until 2016.
Another Reds player reportedly wanted by the Catalan giants is goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who according to the Daily Star, could make the move for £8 million.
The La Liga leaders, who have been in the hunt for a new shot stopper since Victor Valdes announced his desire to seek a new challenge for next season, are apparently ready to put all their efforts into signing Reina, who is also under contract for another three seasons.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are considering a move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez as they look to replace outwardly bound Radamel Falcao.
The Uruguayan is currently serving a ten match suspension for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in the 2-2 draw at Anfield last month.
