Alberto set to seal Reds move
Sevilla forward Luis Alberto is today expected on Merseyside where he will undergo a medical with a view to completing his £6.8million move to Liverpool.
The 20 year old will put to pen to paper on a four year deal, after the Spanish side reluctantly agreed to due to financial difficulties.
Alberto spent last season on loan with Barcelona B, where he scored eleven goals in thirty-eight league appearances.
His arrival adds more doubt over the future of Luis Suarez, who has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield this summer.
Meanwhile, the clubs attempts to sign Shakthar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan have been derailed, following troubling questions over his ownership, the Mirror understands.
Reports in Russia yesterday claimed that the Armenian international was due to fly to Liverpool in order to complete a medical ahead of the proposed £23million transfer.
However, it has transpired that the Ukrainian club only hold a portion of his rights.
Elsewhere, Pepe Reina has reiterated his desire to remain at Anfield amid continuing reports that the Reds are close to signing Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
Reina made a rare start for Spain yesterday evening, as the European and World Champions thumped lowly Tahiti 10-0 in the Confederations Cup.
