Aspas deal delayed by red tape
Iago Aspas’ move to Liverpool is on the verge of being completed, despite their being a delay with the paperwork, Sky Sports report.
The Celta Vigo striker underwent a medical at Melwood on Tuesday, but returned to Spain with the deal yet to be completed.
The 25 year old, who scored twelve goals in La Liga last season, is expected to sign for £7million once the paperwork goes through as expected.
Meanwhile, Feyenord defender Stefan de Vrij has dismissed reports that he is set to move to Anfield this summer.
The 21 year old has been monitored by Liverpool for some time, though he is adamant that he will remain with the Eredivise side next season.
Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has also distanced himself from a proposed transfer to Liverpool after insisting that he is happy at Stoke City, where he expects to remain for the forthcoming season.
The Metro reports that the club will now turn their full attention to Sunderland shot stopper Simon Mignolet, who is also said to be a target for the Reds.
Finally, Liverpool have moved quickly to brand an “email” supposedly from managing director Ian Ayre documenting details of Luis Suarez’s proposed move to Real Madrid as fake.
