Atletico considering move for Suarez

Atletico Madird will make a move for Luis Suarez if Diego Costa leaves the club at the end of the season, the Mirror understands.

The Premier League top scorer was linked with a move away from Anfield during the summer, before returning from suspension in fine form in the autumn, leading to him signing a new contract with the club.

However, with the Uruguay international likely to achieve his dream of playing Champions League football with the Reds, who sit comfortably in fourth place going into the final eleven league games of the season, his chances of moving on are far less than they were six months ago.

Meanwhile, Suarez has revealed that Steven Gerrard helped him decide to remain on Merseyside, according to the Metro.

The former Ajax man has said that he will ‘never forget’ the help he received from the England skipper, who hailed him the best striker that he has ever played with.

Elsewhere, Italy midfielder Andrea Pirlo believes that Gerrard can continue playing until his late 30s, the Daily Star understands.
