CALENDAR CLUES TO STAR FUTURES?

Liverpool fans are growing increasingly concerned about the futures of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk due to a seemingly innocuous detail on the club’s official 2025 calendar.

All three stars are out of contract at the end of the current season, and with little progress on contract extensions, fans are worrying that the calendar may hint at their departures. While Van Dijk recently confirmed that contract discussions with Liverpool are ongoing, he admitted that his future remains uncertain. The Dutch defender said, “My full focus is on Liverpool, wanting to win games that are ahead of me and nothing else.”

Meanwhile, Salah raised alarm bells when he hinted that this season could be his last at Anfield. In an interview after a 3-0 win over Manchester United in September, Salah said, “It’s my last year at the club,” before adding that he hadn’t yet been approached by Liverpool regarding a contract extension. Despite these comments, talks are said to be in progress but have not yet led to a resolution.

Alexander-Arnold is perhaps the most likely of the trio to leave, with Real Madrid reportedly eyeing the England international for a free transfer. Liverpool is said to be willing to offer him a substantial new deal, making him the highest-paid English player in Premier League history. However, with speculation mounting, many are unsure whether he will stay.

The growing concern among fans is compounded by a detail on the 2025 club calendar. The faces of Salah, Alexander-Arnold, and Van Dijk are scheduled for the months of February, March, and April, respectively. The worry is that should the trio leave, their faces won’t feature beyond the spring, potentially signalling the end of an era at the club.

While there is optimism within the club that at least two of the players will stay, the calendar has led to increased speculation about their departures, with even goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s January spot drawing attention, considering the club’s rumored interest in Giorgi Mamardashvili. Fans now face an anxious wait to see how these contract negotiations unfold as the season progresses.
