Fowler confident ahead of Old Trafford trip
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler believes his old club are favourites to beat Manchester United when the sides meet at Old Trafford at the weekend, according to the Express.
The Reds have not won on any of their last six trips to the home of their fierce rivals, but they go into Sunday’s clash with an eleven point lead over the current Premier League champions.
Fowler has admitted his surprise at how United have struggled this season, as well as heaping praise on the job that Brendan Rodgers has done.
The sides have already met twice this season – each claiming one win, with United triumphing with a 1-0 home win in the League Cup on September 25th, after Liverpool had won by the same scoreline in the league at Anfield three-and-a-half weeks earlier.
Elsewhere, the Express understands that Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has denied having any contact with an English club, despite being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League since last summer.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all reportedly interested in signing the midfielder, though he has two years remaining on his contract with the Serie A leaders, and remains committed to them.
