Gerrard and Sturridge set to face Germany
Liverpool duo Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge are both set to be recalled to the England line-up for tomorrow evening’s clash with Germany at Wembley.
The pair both missed Friday’s 2-0 defeat to Chile with Gerrard struggling with a hip injury and Sturridge still having not fully recovered from a thigh problem.
The Liverpool captain will equal World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore’s total of 108 international caps for England if he gets the nod, while the Reds’ top scorer is in line to make just his ninth appearance for the Three Lions.
Glen Johnson may be dropped to the bench after Tottenham Hotspur’s Kyle Walker announced that he was fit to play while Jordan Henderson will be hoping for another run-out having replaced Frank Lampard for the last twenty minutes on Friday evening.
Meanwhile, Liverpool look set to beat Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to sign Derby County midfielder Will Hughes, the Express understands.
The 18 year old, who is set for his sixth cap for the England U21’s against San Marino tomorrow evening, is expected to move away from the East Midlands in January after the Reds reportedly met Derby’s £12m valuation.
