Gerrard looking for victory on Lampard’s 100th appearance
Steven Gerrard is keen to make Frank Lampard’s 100th appearance for England a game to remember, the Mail Online understands.
The Chelsea man is set to join Gerrard and club teammate Ashley Cole as the only current internationals to hit a century of England caps, and all three have retained their place in Roy Hodgson’s side, who will go a long way to securing their place at next summer’s World Cup in Brazil with victory over Ukraine in Kiev this evening.
Gerrard lost on his 100th outing for his country as Sweden ran out 4-2 winners in a friendly last November, and is determined to make sure his midfield counterpart doesn’t suffer a similar fate.
Meanwhile, England U21 captain Andre Wisdom was sent off as Gareth Southgate’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Finland in their 2015 European Championships qualifier.
Elsewhere, Barcelona defender Martin Montoya is reportedly interested in securing a move to the Premier League when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to the Express.
Arsenal are one of a number of clubs to have been linked with the 22 year old, who started just fifteen times in La Liga in the three seasons previous to this campaign.
