Gerrard to miss the end of the season?
Steven Gerrard is likely to miss Liverpool’s final two games of the season as the club are reportedly ready to bring forward his shoulder operation.
The midfielder was originally set to wait until the season is over, however, should he go under the knife earlier, his and the clubs preseason preparations would not be affected.
With Liverpool unlikely to finish anywhere other than seventh place, the club are keen to get their captain fit and ready for the summer tour to the Far East and Australia.
Meanwhile, Cheshire Today have reported that Brendan Rodgers will be given £20 million, plus any funds he can raise from a potential sale of Andy Carroll to spend in the summer.
A host of defensive targets have been outlined in the media in various weeks, with names such as Ashley Williams of Swansea City, Feyenord’s Stefan De Vrij and Brazilian centre back Douglas linked in recent weeks.
However, former Reds player Jan Molby has told the Daily Star that the club should use any funds available to swoop for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.
The Belgian international’s goals; 18 in 31 league appearances, look to have saved his club from relegation to the Championship.
