In The Papers: 10th October
The newspapers appear to have been very quiet in relation to Liverpool stories over recent days, although that appears to have changed for Wednesday. Several media outlets have published reports on the Reds, with some even speculating on possible transfers for Brendan Rodgers.
The first article originates from the Daily Mirror although it’s not in relation to any positive news. Instead, the newspaper is claiming that both the Reds and Manchester United do not have a chance of landing Mesut Ozil, with the German midfielder happy with current club Real Madrid. Rumours have surfaced about the player’s future after Jose Mourinho claimed he “lacked quality”, yet it looks as though any potential switch to Anfield is now off.
In other news, the Daily Mail have reported that Rodgers is switching his attention to Hamburg striker Son Heung-min. At just 20-years-old Son is regarded as a player with exceptional talent and the paper says that Rodgers is considering a switch following Fabio Borini’s troubles in front of goal since his summer move.
The Star, in other news, have rehashed an old story by claiming that the Reds are competing with Manchester City and Arsenal for the signing of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. The outlet says that talks have already been held at boardroom level about a possible switch for the youngster, with figures of £12m being branded about.
Yet another transfer story originates from Liverpool Kop. This outlet have managed to get hold of speculation from Portugal that claims the Reds are following Benfica midfielder Agudo Duran. However, with huge fees being talked about, it’s thought that the Reds would only consider a loan move.
In more trivial matters, a clip has emerged of Brendan Rodgers showing three envelopes that apparently name three players who he thinks will let the club down this season. The Daily Mirror have managed to get hold of the footage, which will air on the reality series Being Liverpool in the near future.
