Liverpool closing in on Mkhitaryan
Shakthar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to today fly Liverpool to undergo a medical, according to the Mirror.
The Armenia international, who has also been tracked by clubs in Germany, Italy and France looks set to move to Anfield to become part of Brendan Rodgers new look side.
A fee of £23 million for the attacking midfielder has been reported, with a bulk of that expected to be recouped by the sale of Andy Carroll, who is himself on the verge of a medical with West Ham United.
Mkhitaryan was the top scorer in the Ukrainian Premier League last season, after hitting 25 goals in just 29 appearances.
Meanwhile, Carroll is expected in London on Wednesday, with a view to completing his permanent move to the Hammers by the end of the week.
Elsewhere, the Mirror have reported that Liverpool are interested in taking Real Madrid’s promising youngster Alvaro Morata as part of any deal that would see Luis Suarez move in the opposite direction.
The striker made sixteen La Liga appearances last season, scoring two goals, and has been impressive in Spain’s route to the final of the European Under 21 Championships, scoring in all four of his sides games so far.
