Liverpool come from behind to win at Villa
Liverpool bounced back from defeat at Southampton a fortnight ago to maintain their impressive record at Villa Park with a 2-1 win over Paul Lambert’s side.
Christian Benteke gave the hosts the lead just after the half hour mark, though they were pegged back when Jordan Henderson dinked over Brad Guzan just after the break.
Then, on the hour mark, Steven Gerrard netted his ninth goal of the season from the penalty spot after Nathan Baker brought down Luis Suarez in the area.
However, the Reds remain five points off a European place, as five of the six teams above them also recorded victories, with most of those sides having played a game less then Brendan Rodgers’ men.
Meanwhile, the Daily Star has claimed that the Liverpool boss could be tempted by a bid in the region of £40 million for top scorer Luis Suarez.
It is believed that German giants Bayern Munich will make a bid for the Uruguayan international, who has hit 22 goals in the Premier League this term.
Elsewhere, the Mirror have reported that the club will bid £8.5 million in attempt to bring Xabi Alonso back to Anfield, after claims that talks over a new contract at Real Madrid for the Spanish midfielder have stalled.
