Liverpool expecting Real bid for Suarez
Liverpool are preparing themselves for an approach from Real Madrid for Luis Suarez this week, the Mirror understands.
The Spanish giants have been linked with a move for the Uruguay international for the majority of the summer, though they are yet to make an official bid.
Sources close to Real are hinting that the La Liga runners up are ready to offer Gonzalo Higuain plus £10m for Suarez, though such a bid is likely to be rejected out of hand by the Reds.
It is believed that Liverpool wouldn’t even consider any bids that fail to meet the reported £40m exit clause in the player’s contract, unless he submits an official transfer request.
Liverpool do not have a serious interest in Higuain who, like Suarez, is also a target for Arsenal.
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich have no intention of selling midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri to Liverpool this summer, the Metro understands.
The Reds are said to have turned their attention to the Swiss international, who played 39 times during Bayern’s all conquering 2012/13 campaign, after Henrikh Mkhitaryan opted to instead join Borussia Dortmund.
However, the 21 year old is set to remain at the Allianz Arena until at least the January transfer window.
