Liverpool managed to get their first league win under Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool managed to get their first league win under Jurgen Klopp after a 3-1 result against Chelsea. This victory comes just days afterKlopp managed to get his first victory in the League Cup against Bournemouth. Prior to this victory, the German had achieved three consecutive draws and several doubts about his ability to manage the Premier League outfit had just started rising. Following these two impressive wins, though, Liverpool have already been asked about a potential title challenge.Klopp has dismissed those concerns right away by saying that he wants to take every game as it comes.
The latest win against Chelsea was mightily impressive considering that the blues were playing at home, where they are usually very strong. Furthermore, Chelsea opened the scoring within the opening 10 minutes through midfielder Ramires. For much of the first half, Liverpool struggled to create any meaningful opening in the game since they were without striker Christian Benteke, who was not deemed 100% fit to start. The striker came from the bench to score the third and final goal. This victory means that Liverpool are unbeaten in the last five games and they are now up to seventh in the table.Klopp will now look to build on this victory rather than aiming for the title straightaway.
“Are you crazy? You think after one win at Chelsea we should think about this? I’ve been here three weeks, round about. We don’t think about this. We have to think about the next game, about improving our game and our style. We can do much better than today. We had our moments – our build-up with short passes was very good. They tried to make pressure but we could play in the spaces in between.I feel[the win] is deserved. We have worked hard but it’s normal if you want to win in Chelsea,” said Klopp.
