Liverpool set for 220th derby
Liverpool go in to the 220th Merseyside derby on Sunday, knowing that defeat will assure they finish outside the top six, and below Everton for a second season in succession.
However, the omens are in the Reds favour, as David Moyes’ men have never won at Anfield during the Scotsman’s eleven year tenure.
Kevin Campbell scored the only goal of the game the last time the Toffee’s took all three points from the Reds ground, back in September 1999.
The hosts will again be without top scorer Luis Suarez for the game, as he continues his ten match suspension so Daniel Sturridge, who scored twice in last week’s rout at Newcastle United, is set to again lead the line.
Fabio Borini, who scored moments after coming off the bench on his return to first team action last weekend, is likely to again be named among the substitutes, though Raheem Sterling is set to miss out again. Joe Allen and Martin Kelly are both long term absentees.
Elsewhere, the Express reports that the club will battle with Swansea City for Manchester City winger Scott Sinclair.
The 24 year old only signed from Swansea last summer, but has failed to make an impact at the Etihad Stadium.
