Liverpool Set for Brazilian Bid
The latest reports from the press are suggesting that Liverpool are about to make a massive £30m bid for Brazilian midfielder Willian, who is being let go by current club Anzhi Makhachkala even though they only bought him last year for £30m!
With their budget having been slashed, Anzhi are shipping out their most expensive players, with Eto’o and Willian amonst the players being moved on.
Unfortunately the midfielder, who has been capped twice by Brazil, will not be coming to Anfield on the cheap – whilst Eto’o is being rumoured to be leaving for just £5m, Anzhi are hoping to recoup in full the 35m euros they spent on him in January 2013.
Willian plays in the left-sided midfielder role, though has been know to play in more of a free-role rather than tracking back too religiously, and is one of the world’s most exciting attacking talents.
With Stewart Downing having left the club yesterday, Willian would be a direct replacement – albeit it a younger, faster, tricksier version. He would fit in with the Liverpool squad well, and at 25 years old represents a player who can continue to grow in both stature and value.
Liverpool face competition from Tottenham and Juventus, amongst others, but the latest reports put LFC in the driving seat. Come on Brendan, lets sign him up!
