LIVERPOOL TRIOTO MISS FIRST GAME
The Liverpool trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita will miss their first game in the Premier League since the African Cup of Nations tournament started in Cameroon when the Reds entertain newcomers Brentford at Anfield on Sunday. In total, the three Liverpool players are expected to miss just two Premier League matches before they return from the tournament being played across five Cameroonian cities. In addition to missing the home clash with Brentford on Sunday, Mane, Keita and Salah will also miss the Crystal Palace game away from home next weekend.
The aforementioned Liverpool trio missed their first game in all competitions as a result of AFCON when the Reds booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round with a 4-1 comeback win overlower league team Shrewsbury Town in the third round of the FA Cup. They missed their second game in all competitions when Liverpool failed to break down 10-man Arsenal as the two teams settled for a goalless draw in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie on Thursday. The third game would be the Brentford game later this weekend, while the fourth game to be missed by Salah, Mane and Keita would be the second leg clash with Arsenal as far as the last four of the Carabao Cup is concerned. The fifth and last game is the Palace game at Selhurst Park. The game against the Eagles is the last Liverpool game before the international break. The AFCON contingent would be back to play in the Liverpool games after the international break.
