Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius is closing in on a transfer to Liverpool
Loris Karius is a 22 year old shot-stopper who went through a very impressive season with the German club Mainz after being able to keep 9 clean sheets as well as saving 2 penalty kicks.
These achievements have attracted the attention of the Premier League club Liverpool and it’s rumored that the English outfit is on the verge of securing the services of the German goal-keeper.
If everything goes as planned and Loris Karius is indeed by Liverpool during the summer transfer window then the German player will bring a new level of competition to the goalkeeping department of the Premier League club as Simon Mignolet will have to be at his best if he wants to keep the starting role position in Anfield.
Simon Mignolet did not have the best of seasons but with the potential arrival of Loris Karius, this will force the Belgian player to be at his best or his position in the club will be taken over by Karius.
The German goal-keeper of Mainz, Loris Karius is even being hailed as the future of the German national football team. Karius might be one of the players to succeed Manuel Neuer after he decides to hang up his gloves and retire, this is a huge task for Karius as Neuer is widely regarded as the best shot-stopper in the world and filling in his boots will not be an easy thing to accomplish.
Karius already has experience in performing with Premier League clubs as he used to be a player of Manchester City back when he was 16 years old before making a transfer to Mainz as he penned a 3 year long deal with the German club. It’s believed that Liverpool is preparing an offer in the region of £4.7m deal in order to lure Karius to Anfield in the summer.
