Reds look to reclaim top spot with derby win
Liverpool head in to tomorrow’s Merseyside derby looking to take three points that would see them, even if only for a short while, return to the top of the Premier League.
Jose Enrique will miss the game, and is set to be out for several weeks after it was revealed that his knee injury could require surgery.
Daniel Sturridge has returned from England duty short of fitness and will be assessed ahead of kick-off, though Kolo Toure is available for selection.
Last season’s corresponding fixture ended 2-2, while the spoils were also shared at Anfield back in May where both teams failed to find the back of the net.
Such is the closeness between the top eight in the division, anything other than three points for Brendan Rodgers’ men could see them end the weekend in as low as seventh place, though their superior goal difference should keep them in the top four regardless of the result at Goodison Park.
Meanwhile, Daniel Agger has revealed to ESPN that he was tempted by the prospect of moving to Barcelona in the summer.
However, the Denmark international went on to reiterate his love for Liverpool, and that he remains happy at the club.
