Reina set for Anfield stay
Pepe Reina has confirmed that he would be open to extending his contract at Anfield, amid reports that he is a target for former club Barcelona.
The Spanish champions were reported to be searching for a new goalkeeper after current number one Victor Valdes declared that he was seeking a new challenge.
However, Valdes has since reversed his decision, opting to see out his contract at the Nou Camp which is set to expire next summer, despite reportedly being a target for big spending French outfit Monaco.
Reina has stressed that he is happy at Liverpool, where he has been since signing from Villareal in 2005, dismissing talks of a return to Spain as ‘only rumours’.
Meanwhile, the Mirror understands that a move for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is on the cards, regardless of the future of Luis Suarez.
The Armenian international, who is valued at £20 million, scored an outstanding 25 goals in just 29 league appearances last season.
Elsewhere, Daniel Agger is reportedly a target for Monaco, according to French paper L’Equipe.
No transfer fee has been mentioned by the report, though it is reported that the 28 year old will be offered a four year contract with Claudio Ranieri’s side.
