Rodgers bans Suarez talk
Brendan Rodgers has banned all talk of Luis Suarez until the striker’s suspension is over, the Daily Star understands.
The Uruguay international, who scored in his country’s 4-2 win over Japan yesterday, will miss the first six domestic games of the new season as he completes the ban he received for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in the 2-2 draw at Anfield back in April.
Liverpool’s pre-season preparations have been overshadowed by the 26 year old, who has continuously stated his desire to leave Anfield.
The saga appeared to be over yesterday, with reports in Uruguay saying that the striker had made a U-turn on his decision to leave, though Suarez has himself denied that that was the case.
However, the club’s standpoint has always been that the player will not be sold, and Rodgers has stressed that that remains the case, before saying that all he wants to talk about is Saturday’s Premier League opener against Stoke City.
Elsewhere, the club are set to complete the £5m signing of Granada defender Guilherme Siqueira, according to the Metro.
The 27 year old is currently discussing personal terms after the bid was accepted by the La Liga side earlier this week.
