Rodgers hopeful of Reina stay
Brendan Rogers has revealed that he hopes Pepe Reina will stay at Anfield, following constant speculation that he is set to move on in the summer.
There has been something of a ‘goalkeeper transfer merry-go-round’ in the media recently, with the Reds keeper linked with both Arsenal and Barcelona.
Barcelona’s Victor Valdes has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool; while all three of the aforementioned clubs are supposedly interested in Swansea City shot stopper Michel Vorm.
However, the Liverpool manager is hopeful that 30 year old Reina will sign a new contract with the club, who he joined from Villarreal back in 2006.
Meanwhile, Sam Allardyce is reportedly considering making a move to sign striker Andy Carroll on a permanent basis.
The 24 year old, who scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season in the Hammers 3-1, win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, moved to Upton Park on loan back in August.
The England international has struggled with injury during his time in London, but Allardyce has revealed that he wants him to stay with club beyond this season.
Finally, Liverpool have announced they will play Australian A-League side Melbourne Victory at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on July 24th.
