Rodgers to bring in “3 or 4” new faces
Liverpool manager Brendon Rodgers has revealed that he is on the lookout for “three or four” new signings in the close season.
Last summer’s transfer window ended in disappointment, with the club unable to offer any support for striker Luis Suarez after missing out on Clint Dempsey, who opted to join Tottenham Hotspur.
The Reds did however manage to bring in reinforcements in January, with the addition of Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge, and Rodgers is keen to bring in players of the same quality for next season.
Feyenord’s Stefan De Vrij and Swansea captain Ashley Williams have been linked as a potential new defensive pair, with midfielders Hatem Ben Arfa of Newcastle United and former youth player Tom Ince also reportedly being considered.
Meanwhile, Talksport have claimed that a deal to sign Malaga playmaker Manuel Iturra has already been agreed.
The 28 year old, who has 12 caps for Chile, is out of contract at the end of the season, and reports in Portugal and Italy claim that his destined for Anfield.
Finally, Joe Allen must decide when to have an operation on a shoulder injury that has troubled him for the majority of the season.
Once he goes under the knife, he will be out of action for around three months, and whilst he may be missed for the final nine games of the season, it would arguably be more beneficial for the Welsh international to be fully involved in preparations for next season.
