Shakhtar to listen to offers for Mkhitaryan
Shakhtar Donetsk have revealed that they are open to offers for midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the Express understands.
The Armenia international has strongly been lined with a move to Liverpool, though the Reds approach for the player stalled following confusion over his ownership.
Liverpool have already spent over £20million this summer following the signings of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet,
defender Kolo Toure and Spanish duo Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas, and a similar figure will be needed if they are to land Mkhitaryan.
The 24 year old, who scored 24 goals in just 29 Ukrainian Premier League appearances last season, is also reportedly a target for Borussia Dortmund and Anzhi Makhachkala.
Elsewhere, the Express has reported that Brendan Rogers will pursue other defensive targets after negotiations over Sporting’s Tiago Ilori came to a dead end.
Despite a £3m deal for the player looking likely, there appears to have been a dispute between the club and the player’s agent.
One other option is Paris Saint Germain centre-back Mamadou Sakho, who is stalling over a new deal with the Ligue 1 Champions.
The 23 year old struggled to hold down a regular first team place last season, making just 24 starts in the league.
