Shelvey set for Swansea switch
Swansea City are close to completing a deal for Jonjo Shelvey after having a bid of £6million accepted by Liverpool, Sky Sports understands.
The England international is now set to discuss personal terms with the Swans and undergo a medical ahead of the proposed move.
The 21 year old had also been a target for newly promoted Crystal Palace, though they failed to meet the Liverpool’s asking price.
Shelvey began his career with Charlton Athletic, before completing a £1.7million switch to Anfield in 2010.
He has made sixty-nine appearances for the club and scored seven goals, but has deemed surplus to requirements by manager Brendon Rodgers, who is preparing a new look side to challenge for a European place next season.
The Express has reported that the Reds have agreed a £25million fee with Shakhtar Donetsk for midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Reports in Russia say that the Armenia international, who has also been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, is set to fly to Merseyside to undergo a medical.
Meanwhile, Ivory Coast defender Kolo Toure formally signed a two year deal with the club at Melwood yesterday.
The 32 year old has been allocated the number 4 shirt ahead of the new season.
