Six missing ahead of Merseyside derby
Liverpool will be without Mamadou Sakho and Joe Allen for this evening’s match against Everton – the 222nd Merseyside derby.
The pair are both nursing hamstring injuries and will miss out, along with Jose Enrique, Glen Johnson, Lucas Leiva and Daniel Agger.
The Reds are go in to the game hoping to secure their fifth win in six games so far this season, though defeat would see their fierce local rivals leapfrog them into fourth place.
Ahead of the game, Steven Gerrard has made a £96,000 donation to Hillsborough Families Support Group, the Mail Online understands.
The Liverpool captain’s ten year old cousin was the youngest of the 96 victims to lose their life at Hillsborough on April 15th, 1989.
Gerrard, who has praised both Liverpool and Everton fans in the continuing fight for justice since the tragedy twenty-five years ago, said he believed ‘the time was right’ to make the gesture.
Elsewhere, Liverpool have joined the race to sign Blackpool winger Tom Ince, according to the Daily Star.
The England U21 international, who began his career with at Anfield before moving to the Tangerines in 2011.
Cardiff City, Swansea City, Crystal Palace, Hull City, Stoke City and Sunderland have all also been linked with a move for Ince, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
