Sturridge set for Swansea clash
Liverpool will be hoping to reclaim top spot as they take on Brendan Rodgers former club Swansea City this evening.
Barclays Premier League Player of the Month Daniel Sturridge, the match winner in the clubs last three games, should feature despite missing England’s two recent internationals against Moldova and Ukraine while new signings Victor Moses and Mamadou Sakho are in the squad.
Anything other than defeat would see the Reds climb above both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur while victory would represent their best run in the league in over seven years.
Meanwhile, the Liverpool manager has warned Luis Suarez that he will not be the main man when he returns to the first team picture later this month, the Metro understands.
The Uruguay international has just two games remaining on his suspension, which he received for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in the 2-2 draw at Anfield back in April.
He was undoubtedly the clubs stand out player last term with 30 goals in all competitions, though Rodgers has insisted that there are no stars in his new look side.
As it stands, Suarez is in line to feature in the League Cup third round tie with rivals Manchester United later this month.
