Suarez tips Ribery to clinch Ballon d’Or
Luis Suarez has backed Bayern Munich midfielder Frank Ribery to win this year’s Ballon d’Or, the Mirror understands.
The France international was integral to Bayern Munich’s treble winning success last season scoring eleven goals in forty-three appearances and Suarez, who is one of five current players on the shortlist for the award, believes that he should emerge victorious.
Meanwhile, the Uruguay international has distanced himself from speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid in January by insisting that he is happy on Merseyside, according to the Independent.
With six goals in five league games this season, the 26 year old has shown no dissatisfaction with the club who he reportedly tried to force a move away from in the summer.
He and Daniel Sturridge have formed a mouth-watering strike partnership, firing the Reds into the top three of the Premier League, though the latter has stressed to Sky Sports that their lofty position is down to more than just those two.
Elsewhere, Barcelona could sign goalkeeper Pepe Reina for as little as £4m at the end of the season, according to the Express.
The Spain international is currently impressing under former Reds boss Rafael Benitez in Italy with Napoli, where his five clean sheets in eleven Serie A appearances has helped the club to second in the division.
