Swansea in for Shelvey
Swansea City are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, according the the Mirror.
The Welsh side are reportedly in talks with their former manager Brendan Rodgers, regarding the potential purchase of the England U21 midfielder, who will be allowed to go if the price is right.
The Reds paid £1.7m for Shelvey in 2010, though they are demanding almost treble that figure as they look to recoup some of the money they have already laid out this summer.
In his three years with Liverpool, the former Charlton Athletic man has made forty-seven league appearances, scoring his only goal in a 4-1 win over Chelsea towards the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
He also made ten appearances in last season’s Europa League campaign, scoring four times, and won his first full international cap in England’s 5-0 win over San Marino last October.
Meanwhile, the Mirror also understands that PSV Eindhoven are keen on taking Oussama Assaidi on a season long loan.
The midfielder made just a handful of substitute appearances in the Premier League last season having joined from Heerenveen in August.
Finally, two of Liverpool’s new signings have been assigned squad numbers for the forthcoming season.
Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet will wear the number 22 shirt, as he did with former club Sunderland while forward Iago Aspas takes the number 9 shirt vacated by Andy Carroll.
