Meanwhile, Philippe Coutinho yesterday completed his transfer from Inter Milan for a fee thought to be in the region of £8.5 million.
However, the Brazilian, who will wear the number 10 shirt vacated by Joe Cole is unlikely to make his debut in Sunday’s game at Manchester City as he has been recovering from injury.
Elsewhere, Brendon Rogers has admitted that a deal for Blackpool’s Tom Ince looks doubtful, with the midfielder looking more likely to complete a move to Reading by tonight’s 11 o’clock deadline.
